ANCIENT STORIES

Language Similarities/Differences

The Similarities in the language in the commentary were somewhat the same to the language you would normally use in everyday conversation to tell a story. Without much detail and just a straight forward explanation. http://kstrom.net/isk/arvol/buffpipe.html
However in the original story, the main difference was the type of words used and the amount of detail given which would normally not happen in normal conversation.http://www.souledout.org/earthday/nativamer/whitecalfwoman.html

Should The Story Be Told Word For Word? Or Meaning Lost In Retelling?

I think it is important to have the story told word for word every time its told to keep the story's original meaning but in retelling the story it can get better than the original by adding more detail or thought into it. The meaning could either be lost, distorted or enhanced all depending on how the story is told and passed down.
